 History

Malankara community in Aurangabad got organized under the leadership of Mr. George Iykerath who was a teacher in St.Francis School, Aurangabad. Fr. Geevarchese Palavila served as the first vicar of the community.  Initially the community had the facility for the holy mass once in a month with the support of Rev.Fr.Berchmans and H.E. Jacob Mar Barnabas. Community met the bishop of Aurangabad for a piece of land. The then Bishop Edwin generously availed a piece of land in St. Francis school campus for the construction of the church for the malankara catholics. In 2007, newly constructed church got inaugurated and blessed by H.E. Mar Crysostum in the absence of apostolic visitator.  Later, apostolic visitator blessed the grotto of Mother Mary. During the time of Fr. Visakham Scaria, regular Sunday mass was started.  Initially 16 malankara families joined with the Malankara community. At present there are 13 families.
